Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic
Job Description:

The Ground Support Equipment Mechanic will inspect, service, maintain, repair, replace, adjust and test wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components IAW all Army Regulations and Technical Manuals.


Responsibilities

  • This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice.
  • Diagnosing the source of trouble and determining the extent of repairs required. Able to read follow and understand Army technical manuals and schematics. Follow checklist from the service manuals and record all corrective actions properly.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, test, and service automotive air, fuel, electrical, hydraulic, brakes, steering, pneumatic, air-conditioning (A/C) (608 Certification preferred), and suspension on associated equipment.
  • Conducts in-process inspection/troubleshooting procedures during repair and overhaul of engines, transmissions and powertrain major assemblies and components.
  • Work environment includes exposure to heat, dust, cold, and inclement weather conditions.
  • Diagnose using different types of computer diagnostic tools and software.
  • Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment systems
  • Must be able to work well with others. Must be able to read and understand technical manuals and document findings in a legible manner. Perform other task as required by Management. Reports to the Maintenance Manager.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of motor vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Knowledgeable in U.S. Army maintenance procedures and AR 750-1.
  • Ability to pass Pre-Employment Drug Test and Background Screening.
  • High School Diploma / GED.
  • Must be able to supply and use their own tools.
  • Ability to receive a favorable Tier-1 Investigation result and obtain and maintain a CAC.
  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift a minimum of 30 pounds to include pushing, pulling, carrying, stooping, bending, squatting, and reaching.

Desired Qualifications

  • 3-4 year’s maintenance experience preferred on military vehicles.
  • US Army MOS 91 series qualification.
  • Experience on US Army tactical vehicles.
  • Valid Drivers License.
