Hybrid Work:
This is a hybrid work position in Calgary, Alberta and requires in-person collaboration at our Distribution Centre in Balzac at least 4 days per week.  

Reporting to the Vice-President Supply Chain and Procurement, the Sr Manager – Distribution Center is responsible for overseeing the full operations and supply chain of onboard products within the WestJet global network. This role involves leading the Distribution Centers team located in Balzac and Toronto, optimizing warehouse operations, and driving strategic initiatives to ensure efficiency, cost savings, and superior customer service. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with expertise in inventory management, demand planning, supply chain optimization, and continuous improvement. The WestJet Distribution Centers support over 9 business units in WestJet with over 350 shipping locations globally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, mentor, and lead the Distribution Centers’ teams to enhance strategy, processes, continuous improvement, and customer service.
• Oversee warehouse teams to drive cost savings, improve operational efficiencies, and ensure on-time product delivery.
• Influence and support the execution of new product initiatives and phase-in/out planning.
• Assign, prioritize, and balance workload within the team to enhance productivity.
• Optimize warehouse space utilization to improve operational efficiency.
• Oversee planning activities to increase inventory turnover and fill rates, while considering capacity limitations and supply chain design.
• Ensure robust planning behaviors to support large volume of offshore sourced goods used in the network while balancing space and inventory needs inclusive of long lead times.
• Manage oversight of the ERP Item Master for both DC stock inventory and direct ship supplier inventory.
• Develop forecasting models using various platforms and data sources to improve planning accuracy and inventory management.
• Conduct cost analysis of purchasing activities, balancing cost efficiency, timing, and capacity considerations.
• Supervise the order desk, ensuring smooth order processing, product receiving, and a high level of customer service for both internal and external stakeholders.
• Foster strong relationships with internal and external business stakeholders to drive customer satisfaction and service excellence.
• Plan and align strategic initiatives supporting supply chain efficiencies with all stakeholders to ensure buy in and execution support from executive level to the day-to-day operational teams.
• Lead and drive IT improvements within various systems including but not limited to JDE, RF Smart, Power BI, and SharePoint applications.
• Collaborate with multiple WestJet Business Units on shared accountabilities for inventory and operational processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• 6–8 years of experience in distribution center management, supply chain operations, or inventory control.
• Strong strategic thinking, forward planning, and forecasting capabilities.
• Expertise in risk mitigation and service recovery planning.
• Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills across both operational teams along with planning and administrative teams.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and forecasting tools.
• Experience in warehouse optimization, cost analysis, and operational efficiency improvements.
• Strong ability to build relationships and collaborate across multiple business units.
• Aviation experience is an asset.
