Primary Objective of the Position:
The Manager, Aircraft Services and Facility Maintenance is responsible for overseeing all aspects of aircraft ground support services and facility maintenance in Hamilton (YHM). This role ensures the safe, efficient, and regulatory-compliant operation of key services, including de-icing, fueling, and lavatory/water servicing for company and customer aircraft. Additionally, the manager leads the Facility Maintenance, ensuring the ongoing upkeep and functionality of the companys building at YHM. This includes leading a team of maintenance workers, coordinating routine maintenance tasks, and managing repairs or upgrades as necessary. The role is critical in maintaining a safe, efficient, and well-maintained workspace that meets the operational needs of the team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage daily operations related to aircraft servicing, including lavatory and water servicing, fueling, and de-icing in compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement operational procedures to enhance efficiency, safety, and service quality.
  • Lead a team responsible for routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades of the companys facilities at YHM.
  • Oversee and maintain backup systems, including generators, HVAC, emergency lighting, and water supply systems, ensuring uninterrupted facility operations.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs for critical building infrastructure.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, workplace health standards, and operational best practices.
  • Prepare and manage operational budgets, vendor contracts, and procurement for related services for repairs and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead incident investigations or audits related to ground servicing or facility operations.
  • Act as a point of contact during irregular operations or emergencies to support operational continuity.
  • Perform any other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Track and report weekly the repairs completed while escalating repetitive and priority items.
  • Develop and report out weekly cost impacts to facility damages and safety related incidents.
  • Support and maintain the emergency response plans, including fire prevention, hazardous materials handling, and evacuation procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team to meet performance and service delivery goals.
  • Coordinate with Aircraft Maintenance and the Control Centre to align service timelines with operational needs.
  • Responsible for your training and the training of the direct reports, ensuring employees remain current with all technical and regulatory training requirements to function in their assigned role.
  • Ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS) and safety / security policies, procedures and standards.
  • Ensure a clean and safe workplace for team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in ground operations or facility management within the aviation industry.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Post-secondary education or certificate in Facilities / Property Management, Aviation Management, Airport Operations, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements (Transport Canada, IATA, IOSA, etc.).
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and operational reporting tools.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to operational improvements.
  • Expertise with HVAC, electrical systems, building automation, and emergency backup systems an asset.
  • Training in occupational health & safety or emergency response is an advantage.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to obtain and maintain an airside pass.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
