Job Summary:
The Ground Power Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing ground power equipment and company vehicles as required and assist the Director of Maintenance in other projects as assigned.
Functions/Responsibility include but are not limited to:
- Keep track of and perform preventative maintenance of company vehicles and stationary equipment
- Trouble shoot and repair broken ground power equipment
- Diagnose problems using test equipment and applicable manuals
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment; operate vehicles when necessary
- Following safety rules and procedures
- Aptitude in using various hand tools and precision measurement tools.
- Inspect, and repack wheel bearings
- Check tires for correct inflation and uneven wear
- Check and repair brakes and braking systems for safe operation and correct adjustment
- Repair aircraft tugs and tow bars
Requirements
Education/Experience:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Michigan Certified Auto Mechanic, with one year of vehicle maintenance experience required.
- Two years of airport/aircraft ground power equipment maintenance experience is preferred.
- Must be available full-time and work overtime when required.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, write and understand spoken and written English.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to give verbal and written direction to assigned staff.
