The Opportunity
Boeing Defence Australia is one of the largest Defence contractors to the Australian government.
We are seeking a skilled Trades Assistant to assist our team in maintaining a fleet of satellite antennas and associated infrastructure as a part of the Maintenance and Support Services team located at our Darwin site.
You will be making a meaningful contribution in supporting the capabilities of our National Security Community customer, the Australian Signals Directorate - ASD
Responsibilities:
- Perform pre-start checks and operate equipment including forklifts, EWPs, and vehicles.
- Operate a range of hand tools, power tools, and lifting/access equipment.
- Support trades and technical personnel with servicing, repairs, and general workshop tasks.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas.
- Complete non-trade tasks as required to support the team.
Experience/Qualifications
- A strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools, power tools and general workshop equipment.
- Physical capacity to undertake manual labour, ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and outdoors.
- A current ‘C Class Drivers Licence.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screen.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work in a diverse team environment.
- Ability to use initiative, prioritise and work within defined timeframes.
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to WH&S and workplace diversity.
- Experience in basic computer use, including Microsoft Office applications.
- Desirable but not essential:
- Mechanical and structural maintenance experience.
- Experience in a similar role or industry.
- Certifications and licenses: Working at heights, forklift license, elevated work platform license, and construction induction (white card).
Security Clearance
Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Australian Government security requirements.
You will be required to successfully undergo an Australian Government positive vetting (PV) security clearance. You MUST be willing to disclose all required information and MUST have the ability to verify your background for whole of life (i.e. birth to present time).
