Job Description:
As part of the Aerodynamics team, the Senior Staff Engineer will lead the aero analysis, design, and provide oversight for testing of commercial aircraft engines, while identifying opportunities for overall engine system performance, operability and durability. In this role, you will drive tool advancement and technology maturation efforts for advanced concept studies, including modernizing legacy tools and developing new computational solutions for emerging challenges. You will be expected to provide innovative solutions to difficult industrial problems in key areas like fan and compressor/turbine systems. You will also assist in mentoring junior members within the organization.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Lead and support design execution of fans, compressors, booster and turbine technologies through various levels of technology maturation
  • Drive innovation through computational modeling and tool development.
  • Modernize legacy tools and develop new software solutions to address contemporary and future challenges in computational aeroacoustics.
  • Collaborate with internal leadership and external customers, including airframers, to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentoring to junior engineers.
  • Drive continual technical and process improvement through design practice reviews and revisions in collaboration with the Chief Engineer’s Office and Engineering Sciences Leadership team.
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE Aerospace customers using reports, records, and letters.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • 12+ years of industry experience in compressor and turbine design.

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands on experience with design execution of at least one key component of a compression system.
  • 7+ years of industry experience in overall technology maturation from early TRL levels to entry into service of aircraft engines.
  • Experience leading, documenting, planning, and promoting technical programs and projects in engine design.
  • Diverse industry experience, preferably in more than one turbomachinery industrial company.
  • Experience in technical oversight and execution of key programs..
  • Ability to lead and influence key stakeholders across organizations and technologies.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Team Player with a positive outlook to problem solving.
  • Innovative thinker and ability to think outside the box.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
