Project Engineering Lead
350 - 481.48 per day
Morson are currently supporting Marshall Land Systems in the recruitment of a Project Engineering lead to work across various projects. You would be responsible for overseeing the technical execution of land-based engineering projects, ensuring compliance with customer and regulatory requirements. This role involves leading cross-functional engineering teams, managing project risks, and delivering high-quality solutions within budget and schedule constraints. We’re looking for engineering leads and project managers with a background in delivering mechanical engineering-based projects.

We’re recruiting for this role on a 6-month contract basis, but due to the amount of work there is long term potential. The role is based at Cambridge City Airport with 3 days a week expected onsite. We can pay a rate of 350 per day PAYE or 481.48 per day Umbrella.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to ensure most cost-effective solutions are developed, which are safe to use and compliant to requirements and statutory legislation.
- Develop and execute an engineering plan, with clear activity breakdown structures aligned to project risk and deliverable milestones.
- Ensure engineering activities are completed within schedule, budget, and quality parameters.
- Control engineering planning, scheduling & Work Package Management.
- Create technical reporting and derive metrics.
- Risk and opportunity management.
- Engineering, IPT communications & coordination.
- Lead gate reviews and milestone tracking.
- Customer/Supplier management.
- Manage Security & Trade Controls.
Requirements
- Team management and technical leadership.
- Demonstrable experience in engineering planning and delivery to schedules.
- Delivery of technical solutions through the systems engineering lifecycle to meet legislative and customer requirements.
- Review and approval of technical documentation.
- Strong grasp of engineering principles, manufacturing techniques, and the systems engineering lifecycle.
- Expertise in analysing and guiding the integration of complex systems.
- Ability to assess technical risk and identify suitable mitigation strategies.
- Skilled in development and approval of engineering reports, specifications, and compliance documentation to industry standards.
- Capability to develop, review and approve executable engineering project plan with structured deliverables and defined timelines.
- Proficient in engineering effort and material cost management and implementation of appropriate control measures to maintain financial performance.
- Sound understanding of applicable ISO standards and Defence regulations.
- Competent in using Microsoft Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams and Project)
- Competent in managing operational workload of team to ensure effective delivery.
- Essential to be qualified to degree level in Engineering or Apprenticeship with sufficient experience in the field.
- Desirable to have made progress towards achieving Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation.
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will need to be BPSS cleared or eligible for this level of clearance before starting on site
