Job Description:

As a Ground Test Engineer, you will play a vital role in supporting the development, certification, and sustainment of De Havilland aircraft. Reporting to the Chief, Ground Test Engineering, you will be responsible for the planning, execution, and documentation of ground test activities related to aircraft structures and systems. You will work within the Ground Test Group, part of the Aerostructures Department under Core Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and conduct structural and systems ground tests in support of development, certification, and production programs.
  • Design and set up test rigs and fixtures, ensuring compliance with engineering requirements and safety protocols.
  • Instrument test articles and validate data acquisition systems.
  • Analyze and interpret test data to assess performance and structural integrity.
  • Prepare detailed test plans, procedures, and reports in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including Design Engineering, Stress Analysis, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and root cause analysis for test failures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., Transport Canada, FAA, EASA) and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and configuration control of test articles and equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in testing methodologies and processes.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace testing or engineering (new graduates with relevant co-op/internship experience will be considered).
  • Hands-on experience with structural and systems testing, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
  • Familiarity with aerospace materials, manufacturing methods, and certification standards.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools (e.g., MATLAB, LabVIEW, CATIA, SolidWorks) is an asset.
  • Experience in Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing). 
  • Eligible to work in Canada and able to obtain necessary security clearances.
