- Avionics Experience - Must have experience with small general aviation aircraft (Cessna 172-208, Piper, Beechcraft including King Air, etc.) and modern-day avionics (Garmin required, other major manufacturers a plus).
- Certification - FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification is a strong benefit, especially with a IA certification. For a quality candidate it is not required but recommended.
- Experience - Minimum of 5 years of experience with avionics maintenance, upgrading, and troubleshooting, 2+ years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
- Technical Skills - Ability to read wiring diagrams, interpret manufacturer and FAA documentation, and quote projects ranging from basic repairs to full-system upgrades.
- Work Conditions - Must be able to stand for long periods, lift heavy items, and work in a hangar environment without heating or air conditioning.
- Documentation Interpretation – The manager must be able to read in English, and understand all manuals from the manufactures, FAA, and other documentation that is put out by manufactures.
- Experience with common avionics tasks and tools – Must have experience with common avionics tasks like Certifying Pitot Static Systems, Troubleshooting Pitot and Static System issues, Transponder Certification, the tools associated with these tasks. Common tools for diagnosing issues with modern avionics systems.

- Must pass initial DOT drug screening and random tests after employment.

Opportunity
This position is an opportunity for a experienced technician who is looking to advance their career, or a current manager who is well experienced in small general aviation avionics. It is a position that requires the ability to trouble shoot many issues with both modern day and other avionics systems. Someone who is well versed in Garmin Products and knows their common issues, and has the knowledge and experience to Quote for upgrading aircraft with new Garmin Products. Other brands are available, but Garmin is the primary focus of the local aviation community. The applicant should expect to be hands on at first, this is a new department and as it grows this position might translate into a position that will not require hands on, but for now it is required. The position is responsible for all aspects of the avionics shop. This includers quoting prospective upgrading of customer aircraft, planning the installation, gathering the required parts and other materials, prepare the aircraft for the installation, install the products, test the products (flight testing not required, customers perform the flight testing), close up the aircraft, inspect the work performed, and all other aspects of the job. Troubleshooting common and not so common issues is also required, along with developing a plan to repair all issues and do the repairs. At first the applicant would be responsible for recruiting a small team to help, and as the department grows, expand and lead that team. It is forecasted that this department will grow rapidly within the first few months due to the demand from the local avionics community.
