Role Purpose
Responsible for ensuring that all REACH (Registration, Evaluation Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) processes are followed with a focus on ensuring that substances of concern used in our products or processes are identified and managed.
The job holder shall also assist the EH&S Manager as required.

Responsibilities
- Project manage the implementation of REACH activities across the Prestwick site.
- Develop systems and infrastructure needed to identify and manage substances of concern used in our products or processes.
- Manage service providers to develop REACH Tools in line with company guidance.
- Coordinate manual declarations from Engineering and Supply Chain until all information is available in the REACH Tools.
- Review the introduction of new substances in line with progressive changes to the list of substances of concern for both EU and UK REACH.
- Ensure customer requests for information related to REACH are met by compiling and releasing REACH declarations to our customers as required by legislation.
- Determine REACH impact to BOM changes (mods), coordinate the analysis of the mods with the service providers and communicate new/revised REACH Declarations to customers as required.
- Interface with regulatory bodies and our customers at a senior level on the management of REACH.
- Identify and leverage best practices on REACH.
- Provide REACH Regulatory information to Supply Chain & Supply Chain Quality representatives to ensure our suppliers are informed about how they need to comply with REACH requirements.
- Provide Regulatory information to the EH&S and Engineering teams on REACH issues to allow them to implement compliant solutions.
- Identify and manage business risks associated with the assessment of REACH.
- Compile and maintain departmental procedures specific to REACH and Chemical Management for audit readiness.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Graduate in related discipline with typically 5+ years practical experience or equivalent recognised experience.
Be able to develop and implement the strategy for REACH, in particular working in conjunction with service providers, other areas of the business, and the management team.
Be familiar with Bills of Materials and have a basic understanding of the content of Material Safety Data Sheets and of the Hazmat process.
Be able to demonstrate sound analytical skills and knowledge of data management processes.
Be able to demonstrate organisational ability, influencing and interfacing skills.
Be able to demonstrate an understanding of associated REACH legislation in connection with the Company’s business processes.
Have experience of project management, planning and control of schedule and budget.
Decision Making Authority
Approves others work to ensure that Company, Customer and REACH Regulatory requirements are met.
Identifies and implements methods and techniques to be used within own work area.
Makes recommendations to the Head of Engineering on materials and processes that require change.
